Austria Ski & Snowboarding Holidays

When you think of skiing holidays; Austria is one of the first destinations that spring to mind, because it is home to some of the most famous ski holiday destinations in the world.

Most Austrian ski resorts are mainly traditional, picturesque villages that have expanded to meet the needs of skiers. This means that ski resorts in Austria usually have charm and ambience in abundance, but lack the convenience of the ski-in, ski-out accommodation of purpose built ski accommodation. However, excellent ski bus and ski lift systems mean that getting on Austria's ski slopes is still easy.

Ski resorts in Austria are at a lower altitude than their French counterparts. This means there are many more tree lined runs that give them their picture postcard looks. However, there are spectacular high-alpine ski routes and something for all kinds of skier. Austria ski resorts are fantastic for short transfers and excellent ski schools.

Austria's apres ski is the reason that many choose to go to Austria often starting in mid afternoon and going on for as long as you have the legs for it. Accommodation in Austrian ski resorts is predominantly in hotels and chalets. although there is some self-catering accommodation available.
